1. Controller

The controller responsible for data processing in this app is:

Nijat Khalilov
Hauptstraße 106, 67269 Grünstadt, Germany
Email: blockfort.dev@gmail.com

2. Overview

Blockfort is a self-control app: it blocks distracting apps, websites and content. We limit the processing of personal data to what is necessary for the app to work. We use no advertising, no tracking and no analytics tools for advertising purposes.

If you do not sign in, your settings and your block list stay exclusively local on your device and are not transmitted to us.

3. What data we process, in detail

a) Account & sign-in (optional)

If you use cross-device sync, you sign in with a Google account or email/password. Via Firebase Authentication we process your email address and a pseudonymous user ID (UID). Purpose: to sign you in and associate your data with your account. Legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

b) Block list synchronization (optional)

With sync enabled, we store your block list (blocked apps, keywords, whitelist) in Cloud Firestore so it is the same across your devices. Storage location: EU (region europe-west). Legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

c) Accessibility service

So that Blockfort can detect blocked apps and content, the app uses, with your explicit activation, the Android accessibility service. It reads app information and on-screen text that is visible on the device to decide whether to block.

Important: This content is evaluated exclusively locally on your device. It is not stored, not logged and not transmitted to us or any third party.

d) Trusted person / accountability partner (optional)

If you choose the unlock method "trusted person", you provide the email address of a trusted person. When you want to ease a block, our server (Firebase Cloud Functions) sends an approval email to that address. We process the partner email and the description of the requested change. Legal basis: performance of a contract / at your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). You are responsible for ensuring the trusted person agrees to receive the email.

e) Purchases / subscriptions (optional)

Premium purchases are handled via Google Play Billing. Payment data is processed by Google; we do not receive it. Only the premium status is associated with your account/device.

f) Strict mode (local VPN service, optional)

If you enable "Strict mode", Blockfort sets up a local VpnService. Its sole purpose is to rewrite DNS requests for certain search and video services to their SafeSearch addresses. No internet traffic is recorded, stored, or forwarded to us or any third party. The service runs entirely on your device and can be turned off at any time.

g) Uninstall protection (device administrator, optional)

At the "Maximum" level you activate Blockfort as a device administrator. This permission is used solely to make uninstalling the app and disabling protection harder (your own self-commitment). No data is collected or transmitted through it.

4. Recipients / processors

To provide the cloud features we use Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions), provided by Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC. A data processing agreement (DPA) is in place with Google. To send the trusted-person approval emails we use an email delivery service (SMTP). Any transfer to third countries is safeguarded by appropriate guarantees (EU Standard Contractual Clauses).

5. Retention

We store account and sync data for as long as your account exists or sync is active. Upon your deletion request (see section 7) the associated cloud data is deleted. You can remove local data on the device at any time by uninstalling the app.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77).

To exercise these rights, an email to blockfort.dev@gmail.com is sufficient.

7. Deleting your account & data

You can delete your account and all cloud data at any time directly in the app (Settings → Account & Sync → Delete account); deletion then happens immediately and permanently. Alternatively, you can request deletion by email to blockfort.dev@gmail.com or via our account deletion page; in that case we delete the data stored for your account within 30 days. Local data on the device is removed by uninstalling the app.

8. Children

Blockfort is not specifically directed at children. People under 16 should only use the app with the consent of a parent or guardian.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy if the app or the legal situation changes. The current version is always available at this address.
